How to read the screener's signals
Both signals positive — top priority
The screener combines two independent analyses: a fundamental score (the quality of the business today) and an ML signal (a 12-month expected-return ranking — BUY = top 20% of the universe). When both are positive at once, it is the most reliable signal. Start your analysis with these names.
ML signal positive only — check the fundamentals
A positive ML signal without a solid fundamental score means the model detects a short-term opportunity, but with no safety net. If the model is wrong, there is no fundamental quality to cushion the fall. Handle with care and in a reduced position.
Strong fundamentals, negative ML signal — monitor
A company with excellent fundamentals but a negative ML signal is not a bad company — it is probably bad timing. The model judges that market conditions are not favourable for immediate outperformance. Add it to your watchlist.
Both negative — no signal today
Neither the fundamentals nor the model are favourable. During a market correction this is the most common configuration — it is not a screener malfunction, it is the market offering no clear opportunities right now. Be patient.
